Burundi: President Evariste Ndayishimiye believes that the problem between Rwanda and Burundi is only a question of cousinship.
It was during his speech at the end of the prayer crusade which ended with the designation / election of Révérien Ndikuriyo alias Kora as new secretary general of the cnddfdd party, replacing Evariste Ndayishimiye who combined these functions with those of President of the Republic since his inauguration on June 18, 2020.
Evariste Ndayishimiye, who likes to ramble in his speeches, said that relations between Burundi and other countries are very good, with the exception of those between him and his neighbour, Rwanda, which still have some darkness areas. He admitted that contacts have already started (he was probably talking about the meeting between the heads of military intelligence of the two countries on August 26, 2020 at the Gasenyi Namba border and that of the heads of diplomacy at the same place on October 20, 2020) , and that they will continue to achieve flawless cooperation because, according to him, the crux of the problem has been identified. He did not want to reveal the real source of conflict between the two countries, but everyone knows it is the same song among the members of the cnddfdd. Evariste Ndayishimiye never fails to say it in his speeches when he talks about Rwanda; he likes to say that this country harbours putschists, authors of the failed coup of 2015 that he would like to see before the Burundian courts. For him, that’s the only problem and he sings it all over his public speeches, and to all the diplomats he meets.
In negotiations, one cannot claim to find a solution to a conflict when one party does not want to admit its mistakes and always seeks to put all the blame on the other. Using the media to make all-out statements to accuse the other as if you are holy rather shows that the big problem is on your side and that you do not even intend to dialogue to find a lasting solution.
Indeed, Evarste Ndayishimiye boycotted the mini-summit of heads of state of the sub-region, held on October 07, 2020 in Goma by video conference. The meeting was attended by Rwanda, Uganda, DRC, Angola. An opportunity to talk about problems between neighbours. Perhaps he was afraid of his fellow heads of state because there are questions he could not find satisfactory answers to. He will participate on November 20, 2020 in the video-conference meeting of the heads of state of the ICGLR led by Denis Sassou Ngweso from Congo. In a poorly read speech, he took the opportunity to talk about the putschists hosted in neighbouring countries who must be extradited to stand trial in his country, Burundi.
Evariste Ndayishimiye believes that by repeating this more often than not (when others are silent to find adequate moments to say it), everyone will believe that it is he who is harmed more than others. And when he does not find such brutal reactions to the height of the frontal verbal attacks he often makes against Rwanda (on August 7, 2020, visiting Busoni commune in Kirundo province, bordering Rwanda, Evariste Ndayishimiye accused the authorities Rwandans to take Burundian refugees hostage in his territory; he said he cannot enter into talks with “ a hypocritical country ”), he thinks that no one sees what he is doing in his country and which contributes to disrupting the security of the neighbour, Rwanda.
By insisting on the extradition of the putschists (who failed and who did nothing wrong other than to have tried to overthrow an illegal and illegitimate power which imposed itself in violation of the finding), Evariste Ndayishimiye has already sent the FDRL to Rwanda who committed a genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994 and who are taking it easy at home? Has he already disarmed and sent to Rwanda these genocidaires who have firmly established themselves in the Kibira and who receive the logistics of stocks from the Burundi National Defence Forces (FDNB) of which he is the supreme commander, to continue disrupting the security of Rwandan citizens? (During the attack of the Fdrl of June 26, 2020 on the south of Rwanda, ox horns marked FDNB coming from China, were seized on captured fighters). The answer to all of these questions is NO. However, the Rwandan soldiers in position in the Nyungwe forest did not hesitate, on September 29, 2020 to arrest 19 fighters from the Red Tabara movement who had just carried out an attack on two households in Kabarore in the province of Kayanza and who had, according to them, lost the compass in the forest and ended up in the Rwandan part. They will be submitted to the ICGLR Joint Extended Border Verification Mechanism on October 5, 2020.
President Ndayishimiye takes lightly (qualifying it as a cousin problem) this question which concerns the security of the citizens of a brother country at a time when genocidaires who are on his territory continue to disrupt security until today of Rwanda and to fall back on its territory which has also become a supply corridor for these FDRLs who leave eastern DR Congo to attack Rwanda.
For example, Sos media reported that on January 11, 2021, crackling of weapons was heard from the hill and Ruhororo area in Mabayi commune, Cibitoke province. These shots are said to be those of armed men who spoke Kinyarwanda and who had just spent several years in the region and particularly in the Kibira, according to local witnesses. These shots were fired from Burundi towards Bweyeye in neighbouring Rwanda. On December 01, 2020, the same medium reported that Rwandan rebels from Burundi attacked a Rwandan position located in Nyamuzi, Bweyeye district. The attackers are said to have withdrawn to the Kibira, on the Burundian side, taking with them cows and food. Mabayi’s imbonerakure are said to have left with them, helping them transport the loot. Residents of the Ruhororo area, Mabayi commune, Cibitoke province claim to have seen them and that they spoke Kinyarwanda; wrote Sos media. These are a few examples taken at random.
URN HITAMWONEZA reminds Evariste Ndayishimiye and his military clique that an issue that concerns the security of a country’s citizens can in no way be a cousin issue. This is a matter to be taken seriously and to which urgent solutions must be taken; otherwise Burundians like to say that when a neighbour’s house burns down, help extinguish it because yours can be affected. And when you’re the one stoking the fire, the consequences can be catastrophic. It is up to Burundians to take this problem into their own hands to prevent Evarsiste Ndayishimiye and his clique from continuing to provoke wars which they do not know how they will end. In any case, a Burundian adage says that where two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers. WhatsApp contact: +31685638237
