Today, France has launched cooperation with Burundi in violation of sanctions imposed on it by the European Union of which it is a member. France has announced that its cooperation with Burundi is mainly in the areas of education and especially in the military field. Would she support the Gitega government as she supported the Rwandan government of Juvenal Havyarimana? This is the question that astute observers ask themselves above all that the military clique in power today shows all the signs of preparation for a genocide that may be rather regional if preventive measures are not taken in time. Indeed, on 4 November 2020, the Permanent Council of the Francophonie meeting in its 112th regular session decided to lift all restrictive measures taken against Burundi.
